Almost since I could walk and talk I have wanted to be a vet.  I grew up on family farm in rural South Australia where we had angora goats and beef cattle as well as almost every other animal under the sun.  The farm instilled the passion to become a vet, but many work experience, lots of reading and discussions with different people have confirmed that this is the profession that I want to be a part of.  I am also an elite athlete; I have played softball for Australia and continue to train and play at this level.  The opportunities through sport have taken me all over the world, including providing me with an opportunity to play and study at college in the US.  This degree has given me a fantastic general knowledge base to now build upon with the specific skills involved in the vet profession. There are two paths that I would be happy taking in my career; Firstly,  I am a country girl at heart and would love to end up living rurally and working in a mixed practice or secondly, working with wildlife in some capacity, I have always loved research, so who knows?
